Very Cool HTML Color Tool -- Download it!

Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Groovy discovery of the moment... TrayColor, a dynamite little freebie that sits in your task tray ready to work. With a quick click you can grab absolutely any color in front of you (online or off) and get the HTML/CSS code. Tiny, fast, and quite zippy!

Download it from the Tank:

Spam Alert

The bi-polar ditz who spammed five members (probably only because these members write and review naughty stories, so they sort of had it coming), has gone deep-end diving. Logs of the flip-out are available on the main page and are worth a glance if only for the chuckles. Check em out here:

Cali Calisto Goes Coocoo for Blogger!

Thanks to Chrissy for sharing the logs. Prodigy (SBC) and several others have been notified. She deleted her blog but created it under the name "Kiki" and has been spamming via email since.

Incidentally-- Susan, Maria, and Mysti all got the same psycho emails initially. Chrissy only got the melt down emails because she reported the blog to the publisher, the phishing and SPAM to her ISP, and her claim to be a cousin of some R&B singer to the website.

Free Dialup Info Available

Wednesday, April 05, 2006
We are providing free dialup connection configuration for any members in the New England area. Any member outside the New England area can contact ME (Chrissy, aka ShandaLear) for more information.

We do not have dsl or cable available. What do you think-- we're made of money?

If you need dialup and can't afford (or are very cheap and don't want to afford) to pay, get in touch with one of the ADMINS.

Thanks! (And You're Welcome.)

Hacktool.Rootkit and Other Rootkit Trojans

Saturday, April 01, 2006
Recently we have had many emails regarding a trojan crapware infection called hacktool.rootkit and a few variations. The rootkit trojans infect your computer with a spamware popup that indicates a system failure with a linked url.

Most have had success removing it using UnHackMe, KillBox, and Rootkit Remover. (All available for download just about anywhere, including zdnet.

Remember to be careful, use firewalls, and scan regularly.

Initial Launch

Tuesday, March 28, 2006
Forward into the breech, my friends. The Sceptics' Tank ventures into yet another frontier.

We blog, therefore we are?

Probably not, but since the blogosphere is rampant with possibility, and since so many Tankers were blogging, we thought it prudent to dip toe in pond. The final straw was Chrissy's damned dog getting a blog. We can't possibly be one-upped by a neurotic pug.

Simpler than updating the site after every new development, the blog will be your source for current stuff. All admins have access to post, so you are liable to come across any of us yammering. Snippets, tags, you name it-- check here.

Thanks to Chrissy and Mysti for yanking this sucker into shape.
